Tooth-Colored Fillings
on South Lamar

You take a lot of photos. Out on the strip, at a show, at somebody’s wedding on the lake. So a chipped front tooth, or an old silver filling that winks when you laugh, isn’t nothing. Composite’s tooth-colored and color-matched. We fix the chip, or swap the metal, and nobody can tell. Right here on South Lamar. Usually one sitting.

What they are

A resin, tinted to your enamel and bonded on, so the fix reads as nothing but tooth.

A filling no one can see. Bonded to the tooth, matched to your shade, and finished in a single visit.

Here’s the material. Composite’s a resin. We tint it to match your enamel, bond it onto the tooth, harden it with a light. The match is the whole appeal. On a front tooth, or any tooth that shows when you talk, a good one reads as nothing at all. Just tooth. It’s the mercury-free swap the FDA points patients to in place of amalgam (“silver”) fillings.

It pulls double duty. It repairs the actual problem. A cavity. A chipped edge. A worn corner. And it keeps your smile looking like your smile. If you’re in 78704 and a little particular about how you photograph, that second part matters more than people admit.

Why composite

Why choose tooth-colored fillings in South Austin?

On the SoLa side of town, a filling has two jobs: fix the tooth, and disappear while doing it. Composite does both.

Invisible by design

This is the one you came for. We shade-match the resin to the teeth around it. A filling on a front tooth, or a visible edge, just disappears. No gray shadow. No metal glint when the light hits it out on the patio.

Fixes chips, not only cavities

Caught a corner on a bottle? A fork? A spill off the e-scooter? Composite rebuilds the chipped or worn edge and shapes it back to match the other side.

Bonds without grinding the tooth down

Composite sticks to enamel chemically. So we keep more of your real tooth than the old metal approach ever did. Less drilling. More of your tooth left.

Trades out the silver

Got dark amalgam fillings from years ago? We can swap them for tooth-colored ones. People do it before a wedding, before headshots, or just because they’re sick of seeing metal in the mirror.

What to expect

Your composite filling in a single, comfortable visit.

Most fillings are placed start to finish in about an hour, with nothing to take home but a tooth that looks and works like new.

01

Numb & prepare

A small amount of local anesthetic keeps the tooth completely comfortable. We isolate the area so it stays clean and dry while we work.

~10 min
02

Remove the decay

We gently clear away the decayed tissue, the dental caries that caused the cavity, and clean the area, removing only what needs to go and preserving as much healthy tooth as possible.

~10 min
03

Bond & layer

The tooth is prepared with acid etching and a bonding agent, then color-matched composite resin is placed in thin layers, each cured firm with a curing light for a strong, sealed restoration.

~15 min
04

Shape & polish

We sculpt the filling to fit your bite, check it feels natural, and polish it to the same sheen as the enamel around it. You leave the same day.

Why Enamel

Fillings that look like they were never there.

A cavity should not cost you your smile. We treat composite fillings as cosmetic work, not just a repair. Each one is matched, bonded, and finished with the same care we give a veneer.

Color-matched to your shade

We match the resin to the exact shade of the teeth around it before it is placed, then polish it to the same sheen as your enamel. The result is virtually invisible, even on a front tooth.

Shade-matchedPolished to match

Mercury-free & tooth-saving

Composite bonds directly to the tooth, so we remove only the decay and keep more of your natural structure than a metal filling ever could. No mercury, no dark line at the gum.

No amalgamConservative

One comfortable visit

Most fillings are placed in about an hour, in a single appointment, with gentle local anesthetic and a comfort-first team. You walk out the same day with a tooth that works like new.

Is it right for you

Is a white filling right for your smile?

If the thing bugging you is cosmetic, a chip, a stained edge, a silver filling you’re done looking at, composite’s usually the answer. It’s the standard fix for a plain cavity too. But on the SoLa side of town, it’s the looks that get people in the chair.

Book a quick consult and we’ll see what’s actually going on. Sometimes a chip needs a filling. Sometimes it’s more of a bonding touch-up. Now and then a tooth needs a bit more than that. We’ll show you on camera and let you call it. Nobody’s going to talk you into work you don’t want.

Tooth troubles?

Composite filling questions, answered.

Here are the answers to the questions we hear most about composite fillings. Do not see yours? Call us. We would much rather chat than have you guess.

I chipped a front tooth. Can you make it look normal again?

Usually, yeah. Composite lets us rebuild the edge and match the shade, so the chip’s gone. Most small ones are a one-visit fix.

Can you replace my old silver fillings with white ones?

We can. We take the metal out, put tooth-colored composite in its place. A lot of people do a few at a time instead of all at once.

Will the white filling stain from coffee and wine?

It resists stains better than your natural enamel does. Over years, though, it can pick up a little color from coffee, tea, red wine. Rinse with water after, keep up your cleanings, and it stays looking right.

Does the color-match really hold up in photos?

It does. We match it to the teeth beside it under normal light. It photographs the same as the rest of your smile. That’s the point of using composite over metal.

How long do they last?

Five to ten years, often more. The visible ones you’ll want to watch at cleanings, since those are the ones you’d notice if they ever needed a refresh.

What do tooth-colored fillings cost in South Austin, and does insurance cover them?

Most dental insurance plans cover composite fillings just like silver ones, minus your copay. We accept 100+ plans and verify coverage before treatment at any of our South Austin studios, from South Lamar to Leander. No insurance? The Enamel Dental Plan and financing options keep cavity treatment affordable.
