Bonding uses a tooth-colored resin called composite. We shade it to your enamel, brush a little bonding agent on the tooth, then add the resin and shape it by hand. A curing light sets it. To close a gap, a diastema if you want the real word, we widen the two front teeth toward each other by a hair on each side. Done right, you cannot see where your tooth ends and the composite starts.
Here is the part people like. There is usually no drilling and no shot. We are adding to the tooth, not cutting into it. Nothing is wrong with the tooth’s health. You just want it to look different, and this is the gentlest way to get there.

We almost always recommend one. Even a little night grinding can chip it, so a guard while you sleep saves you a repair down the road.
Bonding rebuilds the tooth, but it is not armor. Go easy here: no chewing ice or pen caps, leave your fingernails alone, and never open packaging with your teeth.
Composite stains a bit more easily than porcelain. A rinse after coffee or wine helps, and a straw keeps dark iced drinks off the front teeth.
Coming in on schedule lets us re-polish it and catch a small chip before it grows into something bigger.
