Every teeth cleaning at our Craig Ranch studio includes an oral cancer screening, a bite check for the grinding your deadlines cause, and gum measurements tracked visit to visit. The cleaning itself solves a mechanical problem. Plaque you miss becomes tartar, and tartar sits there wrecking gums until somebody removes it professionally. No toothbrush on any shelf can. A hygienist with proper instruments does it in one visit. That part is table stakes.
What separates a good preventive visit is everything checked while you’re in the chair. Gum health, which connects to more than your mouth, since gum disease keeps showing up in research alongside heart disease and diabetes. The early signs of grinding, which white-collar stress produces in quantities dentists can read like tree rings. And tissue changes that an oral cancer screening can catch at the stage where catching it matters most.

Two of these get top billing at our McKinney studio because of who sits in our chairs.
The first is the oral cancer screening. Five minutes, every single visit, covering lips, tongue, the floor and roof of the mouth, then throat and neck. It’s included rather than offered, because screenings only work when they actually happen. The second is bite and wear. The 121 corridor produces clenchers and grinders at a remarkable rate, and the evidence shows up on chewing surfaces long before you’d notice it yourself. Caught early, a night guard stops the damage cold.
The other six run every visit too. Scaling takes care of plaque and tartar at the gumline. Digital X-rays hunt for decay while it’s still cheap to fix. Gum pockets get measured and logged so trends surface early. Existing crowns and fillings get reviewed for wear. The polish lifts coffee and wine stains at the end. The home-routine chat closes things out, and it stays short. Useful beats thorough at that point in the visit.
Your first visit runs about 90 minutes so we can set up your chart, take a full set of X-rays, and do a thorough exam. Every return cleaning after that is a comfortable 60 minutes, start to finish.

For most adults, yes, and not because the calendar is sacred. Six months is roughly how long tartar takes to accumulate into a gum problem, and it’s also a sensible screening interval for everything else on the checklist. Things change slowly in a healthy mouth. Twice a year keeps “slowly” from becoming “suddenly.”
Charts with gum disease history or rapid buildup sometimes call for three or four visits. If yours does, the dentist will walk you through the reasoning with your own numbers on the screen.

The 121 corridor
The studio is at Hub 121, on Alma Road just off the Sam Rayburn Tollway. Craig Ranch surrounds us. Stonebridge Ranch is a few minutes up Alma, Adriatica a short hop east, and the North Allen and East Frisco edges reach us faster than anything in their own ZIP. Most of the chart is 75070 with a thick 75071 layer. Allen sends a steady stream over from 75002 and 75013, and the Frisco side of 75035 shows up more every month.
Weekday mornings here look corporate, with more Raytheon badges and Medical City scrubs than you’d expect in one waiting room. The commuters figured out long ago that booking around the tollway beats booking against it. Families come in waves after school. For the record, since it confuses every new arrival: Craig Ranch kids attend Frisco ISD schools, not McKinney ISD. Comstock and Scoggins are practically around the corner.

From the Dallas North Tollway it’s one exit pattern, from US-75 about ten minutes.Corporate dental plans around the 121 corridor are mostly PPOs, and most PPOs cover two preventive cleanings a year. Give us your plan when you book. The team verifies your specific benefits before the visit and bills the insurance company directly, so the only paperwork you’ll see is the appointment reminder.

Anything else, the front desk picks up fast.
Anything that shouldn’t be there. Patches or lumps, a sore that’s been hanging around too long, asymmetry in the mouth or throat or neck. The dentist looks and feels, five minutes or so. Nearly every screening ends with an all-clear and a see-you-in-six-months. The rare one that doesn’t is the entire reason it runs every visit.
Almost always. Clenching and grinding leave wear patterns on chewing surfaces that show up in the bite check long before you’d feel anything. If yours are progressing, a custom night guard usually stops the damage. Cheaper than the crowns you’d eventually need without one.
Same office, same team, on purpose. If anything during your exam suggests airway or sleep issues are worth a look, the conversation happens down the hall instead of across town on a referral.
Book a new-patient visit for each of you. They run 90 minutes: full chart, complete X-rays, cleaning, and the comprehensive exam. Have your old office send records over if you can, and if you can’t, the X-rays rebuild the picture fast. Yes, your kids are Frisco ISD. Everyone asks.
