1. Can whitening gel damage my Vivera retainer when I perform overnight whitening?
No, as long as you use the correct concentration. Our team recommends a 10% carbamide peroxide gel. This is a safe concentration that is gentle on the medical-grade thermoplastic and will not result in your retainer becoming brittle or cloudy, unlike high-strength bleaches.
2. How much gel should I use in my Vivera tray?
We recommend that you apply 0.25ml of 10% carbamide peroxide gel to your Vivera tray. Use a graduated syringe to place a dot of gel in the center of each tooth indent on the front side of the tray. By doing so, you prevent the gel from contacting your gums and potentially causing chemical burns.
3. Can I whiten my teeth every night using my clear retainer?
Although Vivera retainers are durable for nightly whitening, we recommend following a maintenance schedule. Once your desired shade is reached, use the whitening gel one night a month. This maintains your bright smile without tooth sensitivity, often associated with over-whitening.
