A lot of our Circle C and Lantana Place patients will tell you it isn’t one particular procedure that scares them. It’s all of it, really. The smell of the place when you walk in. The drill you can hear going somewhere down the hall, and that helpless feeling the moment the chair tips back and you’re not in control anymore. When you’re built that way, canceling a checkup over and over has nothing to do with being lazy. It’s a real phobia, and the unfair part is that it grows. Skip the dentist long enough and the fear gets bigger while the list of actual work that needs doing gets longer right alongside it.
So we start somewhere most offices don’t. We start with the fear instead of the teeth. Oral sedation is what makes that possible. You take a prescribed medication before you leave the house, so the panic that usually peaks in the waiting room never really gets going. By the time you’re in the chair you feel loose and a little removed from it all, awake and able to talk to us, but no longer braced for impact. Patients tell us the night-before dread is the part they hate most, and the medication takes the edge off that too, because you head in already knowing this visit will go differently.
What catches people off guard is how much one good appointment can shift things. The first time a sedated visit goes nothing like the catastrophe they pictured, the grip starts to ease. Our studio is tucked off Southwest Parkway near Lantana Place, an easy drive in from Circle C, the Veloway, or the streets around Slaughter and Escarpment. If fear has been calling the shots on your dental care, we’d like to be the place that finally works around it instead of pretending it isn’t there.
